What is a Drum Brake System?

The wheel on a motor vehicle is connected to a drum. The drum protects the braking system by enclosing it and keeping dust and moisture out.

Alermak Offers Customizable Drums

The backing plate, which is located on the open side of the brake drum, completes the brake enclosure and secures the brake assembly. The backing plate is secured to the axle housing of the vehicle. The backing plate serves as the foundation for the brake shoes and the operational mechanism.
